Time

I started buying things for my trip today. A big step. A little over four weeks until my departure.

Sandals
A first aid kit
Rehydration Salts

I also put in my application for a new passport. My old one has been cancelled, and they took it and punched zillions of holes in it so make it void. Goodbye little passport, thanks for the times.

That passport has taken me around eight European countries and has been used as my ID for the USA and for Canada.

Ahhh, time. It goes by so quickly lately. Too many hours spent working at a call centre to try to pay back debts, student loans, and rent. Luckily for that job, though, is that I’ll have a week of benefits before I leave my job, and it’ll give me a little bit of money for traveling while in West Africa. Hopefully I’ll leave with more than $1000 in my bank account. More than I’ve had in over a year.

Currently spending my time and money having fun and smoking cigarettes. The other night I spent time with my sister and she was sitting on the couch with my head in her lap and she was braiding my hair and singing to me, and I wanted to remember it for the rest of my life, and especially when I go away. I started to get homesick, and I haven’t even left yet.

Today at the passport office, I looked out the window and saw the Atlantic fog pushing past the trees and I admired the wonderful place that I live in, and hoped that The Gambia is just as beautiful, if not more beautiful than it is here. Nova Scotia is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been.
